Fix: Surface Pro 3 Randomly Ejects Micro SD Card

I bought a 64GB Samsung Micro SD card for my Surface Pro 3 around 2 months ago and used it for all my static files, cloud drives and etc. around 2 weeks ago I encountered this issue that the micro sd card was being ejected and reinserted into the machine randomly.  This was annoying because Onedrive and my other apps were complaining that the directory is not accessible.

After looking up over the similar problem online I found out that many others are experiencing the same issue with their surface pro 3 and micro sd cards.

Seems like that the latest Realtek Drivers is causing this issue. The only way to solve this issue for now is to remove these drivers from your machine and run an windows update.

After that you should reboot your machine, by doing that windows will again try to download the latest drivers which are faulty. but then you can go to device manager and use “Roll Back Driver” function. this will revert it to the old driver and prevents the automatic updates to replace it with the faulty ones.

So lets go through the steps of doing this a bit more detailed:

  1. Go to Device Manager and under “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” Uninstall the realtek card reader driver.
  2. Restart your machine and then run Windows update.
  3. Go back to Device manager and find the same driver and go to “Properties”.
  4. Click on Driver tab and then click on the button “Roll Back Driver”.

This should fix the driver issue. it is been around 4 days passed since when I applied this remedy and ever since that my SD Card issues are completely resolved.

Softether VPN Server Disturbs Network

Softether is great. Setting up a VPN server with multi protocol support is made pretty easy with it.

Well I’m not going to talk about how to setup softether and so on, Today I’m going to share an issue that I was experiencing by setting up softether on my Virtual Machines.

Softether uses a built in DHCP server to assign internal IP addresses to your VPN users. That is great, but sometime you may see your whole network crashing.

I set up softether on our data center and it was working pretty well. After Few hours I realized that there is a large amount of broadcast packets within the network coming out from the Softether machine.

Looking up the problem for few days I realized that the local bridge was causing the issue. The local bridge feature will try to put the vpn server in state of the host machine in your physical network, which means the VPN server will start sending DHCP broadcast packets to all the physical machines in your network. This can cause confusion for your other machines and network disturbance.

Disable sidemenu in specific pages ionic 2 framework

I’m not sure whether its me or it feels for everyone the same that ionic 2 is pretty different from the first one, thus none of those tutorials online are applicable to problems you are sarching for.

Anyway straight to the point I’m going to show you how to disable the side menu (any menu also will work) on specific pages. Lets say in my Case I had a login screen which I did not want the menu to be at.

First thing first is to open your app.html file. where the menu is actually included. Find the opening tag for the menu. So you should be having something like:

Add an id to your menu so it will be something like this:

Alright not we have to make changes to the javascript file of our page. let say my page name is login and the javascript file is called login.js. What you should do is to import “MenuController” from “ionic-angular” package. The NavbarController Should Already be imported, so you can just call in MenuController in the same line like:

now pass menu to your construct function. so it will be like constructor(nav, menu).

Then within the constructor define the menu and disable it by using:

so the final code will look like:

That is it.
