Crackling sound when playing music on MacOS 26/27

I came to the party pretty late. usually I don’t jump onto updating my OS anymore, especially ever since I’ve got into apple products. honestly, with apple, I’ve learned that I shouldn’t expect much from a brand new OS update, because in most cases, all we get is some new emojis or some useless new native apps.

anyhow today I decided to finally update my MacBook Pro M2 from MacOS 15 to 27. Other than everything being 4x more rounded than in past, I started running into a crackling sound coming off the speaker when I played music, regardless of the app playing it.

Searching online desperately for similar symptoms, I ran into this thread on Apple forums. finding out that my hardware isn’t broken and the fact that this happened after an update, was a hearwarming, until the point I realized there is no fix for it provided by Apple.

As always, when Apple fucks something up, they simply ignore it. it seems they really need 100% of their users to experience a certain issue before addressing it.

anyhow, the issue has to do with playing music while iOS simulator is on. that is a relief, so for now, if you’d like to listen to something on your Mac, make sure you do not have simulator open.
